Chapter 5: Freunde
“Power does not choose, Eric. Take firearms as an example, it will be a protector or destroyer depending on who used it. The good or evil of a strength depends on those who use it.”

In a dark room, a man in front of a computer replayed the recording of five Stahlsaurers combined into Saurierkaiser. The man was disturbed by the appearance of the giant robot, but he was also somewhat interested.

“I didn't think they could progress this far,” he said, standing with his back facing the screen.
“Our plan will fall apart if we let them be, what do you think?” asked someone who was beside him.

“We have to do something,” said that man.

The man then got out of the room, a symbol plastered on the computer screen he left behind, underneath it said “Genesis Inc.”

Two weeks after Petra chose to become a Genoranger, he still found time to take care of his computer system. The tasks that he had done had now been given to A.I. which he made, that could be easily used even by Sir Owen. Strangely, Sid often came to headquarters just for the sake of it. Today he came and turned on the TV, watching a boxing fight with Dan and Alvin.

“By the way, where is Owen?” Sid asked.
“Sir Owen’s gone, dunno where to,” Alvin said.
Eric raised his head and said, “You guys are aware, aren't you? Since Brother Petra became a Genoranger, Sir Owen seemed to distance himself from us. “
Petra was seen closing his mouth and refusing to look at Eric.
“Sir Owen might have a job,” Grace said.
“Yes, but what?” Alvin asked, “He’s gone when da Androsaur appear right?”
“Never mind, don't worry about it,” Winnie said, “Come on, forget about it and continue our game. It's your turn, Grace. “
“All right,” Grace took her dice, but their Genophone all rang.
“One outside the fence,” Petra said.
“Tch, and just when we are at the good part,” complained Sid, who turned off the TV.
“Eh, can we really get out of the fence?” Winnie asked.
“We can dive down da river or through the culverts, too,” Alvin answered.
They decided to transform and dive through the river because it was closer. Strangely, once they got there, there was no Androsaur in sight. Dan picked up the Genophone, the signal from Androsaur was gone.
“Huh, it's gone,” Dan said.
“Oi, we at da right place, right?” Alvin asked.

“Is there a mistake from the Genophone?” Winnie asked.

They were all confused, Petra said, “From the base to here is about fifteen minutes by the river. There is no way that Androsaur, who must be killed twice, can be defeated that fast.”
“Most likely the Genophone's mistake,” Grace accused.

“How about we split up?” Eric suggested.

“Don't, it’ll be troublesome if we split up now, we don't even know where our target is.”
Alvin decided to return to headquarters and told Sir Owen about this when Sir Owen returned. Eric decided to go home.

“I'm home,” Eric said.

“Welcome, Ric,” his mother called.

Dinner for the day was porchetta.

“Ric, Sir Owen called me,” said his mother.

Eric was surprised, “What did Sir Owen talk about with mama?”

“Oh, Sir Owen only said what you did for the past month.”

Eric was now scared, there's no way Sir Owen told his mother about him being a Genoranger, right?

His mother smiled, “He said you helped him teach elementary science students as teacher’s assistant. I am proud, you know.”

“Oh,” Eric said, “Oh, yes, of course.”

“In two years you will go to university, right? What do you want to major in?”

“I haven't chosen that, ma. Miss Astrid who taught mathematics wanted me to major in actuarial, but Sir John who taught technology science wanted me to take IT. Honestly, I'm confused.”

His mother smiled again, “Whatever you choose, I will support you.”

“Thank you, ma ...”

When they were done, Eric returned to his room and checked his smartphone. There were numbers of incoming messages in the “Lain” application, some from class’ group, there were direct messages from his friend in Italy, and messages in the Genoranger group.

The next day, the seven Genorangers gathered at headquarters. The front door opened and Sir Owen entered.

“Sir Owen,” Eric said, “Sir is half an hour late.”

“Sorry, there was a call from the headmaster,” Sir Owen replied.

“Today is a holiday,” Grace and Eric thought.

“Honestly, can’t think of better reason?” thought Alvin.

“So, you guys said there was something out of place yesterday?” Sir Owen asked.

Petra then explained what happened yesterday to Sir Owen. Sir Owen was astonished by that. How could a Genophone send an Androsaur signal and in less than quarter of an hour the signal had disappeared without a trace that the Androsaur had been defeated.

“Looks like we're not fast enough,” Sid said, “Maybe next time we should use Pteranodon to take us there.”

“Too risky. You can be traced if you release the Stahlsaurer without Androsaur,” Sir Owen said.

“If your assumption that the Genophone has never experienced an error is correct, it means there is only one possibility: Someone defeated the Androsaur,” Grace said.

“There’s a Genoranger team besides us if that so, and obviously they’re freakin strong,” Alvin murmured.

“But if they are defeated, they become huge right?” Petra pressed, “There's no way they can defeat Androsaur without leaving marks, no matter how strong they are.”

“There's no way someone could secure Androsaur to a place that can't be accessed by Genophone, right?” Winnie chirped.

Sir Owen was surprised. Instantly the atmosphere became quiet, Winnie who was pressured by the tense air felt uncomfortable.

“Uhmm, sorry, don't mind about it,” Winnie said, looking down.

“I think the theory that someone defeated Androsaur was stronger,” Eric said. “If so, why don't we look for the other Genorangers and invite them to join us?”

“Talk’s easy, kiddo,” Alvin said, pointing to Sid, he continued. “This old man is a pain in da a- neck when we asked him to join us, and he only joined if there is Androsaur. It's not that I don't trust people, but I doubt the other rangers will be in line with us.”

Eric was silent. Aren't rangers defenders of justice? Aren't rangers heroes? Sid, who was perhaps the most selfish in his goals, still helped them fight Androsaur. His mind conflicted, he did not know the ranger world was not what he had imagined. No, he didn't want to admit that the ranger world wasn't what he imagined.

Sir Owen looked at Eric and said, “Eric, not all humans are good, and unfortunately, they can also have that power.”

As they concluded the discussion, Sir Owen gave Petra the task to increase the distance of the drones so they could get out of the city fence. Petra who was busy writing code was being approached by Eric who questioned what Sir Owen meant by his words earlier.
“Power does not choose, Eric. Take firearms as an example, it will be a protector or destroyer depending on who used it. The good or evil of a strength depends on those who use it,” Petra said.

“In that case, why aren't people like that prohibited from possessing this power?” Eric asked.

“The one who chooses who gets that power isn't us, right?” Petra replied, smiling at Eric. “The important thing is that you use it for a good purpose.”

Eric nodded, dumbfounded, his face confused. He got out of Petra's room, staring at the Tyrannosaurus Rex DNA Key in his hand. For some reason, he felt that there was something bigger than just the ranger's strength in this DNA Key.

Petra then gathered them all at six in the afternoon. He decided to divide the team into two. Eric, Alvin, Dan, and Sid would stand guard outside the fence, while Grace, Winnie, and Petra would stand guard inside the fence. Petra’s drones had been prepared to help them prevent other Androsaurs from disappearing like yesterday.

“I'm still curious why dat monster can disappear,” Alvin said through Genophone.

“We can find out today,” Petra replied, their Genophone then rang. Petra looked at it and said. “Alvin, there's Androsaur coming to your position from eight o'clock!”

And, Sid, Alvin, and Eric took out their weapons. Alvin looked in that direction. There were no signs of Androsaur.

“Twenty meters! Fifteen meters!” Petra announced, “Ten meters!”

Alvin looked up, thinking the Androsaur was flying like Androsaur before. Nothing. Sid jumped, stabbed Stegorati to the ground and turned it. The ground was torn apart, and an Androsaur appeared from the ground. Ceratogaulus Androsaur, a mole Androsaur.

“Oh my, dat explain it!” said Alvin, who lunged without warning. “It’s hiding inside the freakin ground!”

“Guys! Ten, twenty, thirty Androsaurs were detected from the west!” Petra said, “Grace, Winnie, let’s help them!”

Petra flew towards that place, leaving Winnie and Grace behind. Sure enough, dozens of those weak Androsaurs appeared. But there was something different from some Androfutter that appeared. The usual Androfutter looks like a black monkey, but some in these hordes were red and larger. Sid noticed, he then turned to attack the Androfutters mob.

“Boys, take care of the mole!” Sid commanded, “Me and Dan will take care of them!”

“Tch, I'm the leader here,” Alvin thought.
“Eric, Alvin, hold the mole Androsaur!” Petra said through the Genophone, “We are heading there!”
“Okay, four eyes,” Alvin said.
While Eric and Alvin take care of Ceratogaulus, Sid killed those Androfutter who tries to surround him and Dan as if he was possessed. Sid then faced a red Androfutter, stabbing Stegorati directly into the chest. But his attack did not penetrate, the Androfutter he had stabbed flung him away. This red Androfutter turns out to be stronger than the black Androfutter, but not as strong as ordinary Androsaurs.
Sid felt pain in his stomach. The wound from the battle against Ornimegalonyx reopened and bleed. He staggered, burning sensation stung all over his body. The Androfutters lunged at him, attacked him ... Dan confronted them with his axe, killing several black Androfutter that were weaker in one slash.
“Uncle Sid, run!” Dan ordered.
“No! I still-”
“TO HELL WITH YOU EGO, IDIOT! GO AND TREAT YOUR WOUND!” Dan shouted.

Sid stunned. He lowered his head, then rose and ran away limping to treat his wound. Sid ran a little distance, stopped his transformation and leaned under a tree, then pulled a box out of his jacket’s pocket. The box contained bandages, antiseptics, alcohol, needles, and thread. After rubbing the needle and thread with alcohol, Sid took a twig and bit it, splashed the wound with antiseptic, then sewed the wound himself.

Sid groaned, “Damn ... I have to go to the hospital without being caught by the soldiers, getting out of the fence is prohibited ...”

Sid actually wanted to fight again, but the wound was too painful. Sid tried to get up, but in his left another Androsaurs appeared. Pliohippus Androsaur which looked like a two-legged horse, and Synthetoceras Androsaur which was deer-headed with horns. Sid could only surrender himself to his fate when the two Androsaurs dashed at him...

Something moved above him and attacked those two Androsaurs. Before he could see it, something picked him up and carried him away. Sid saw the figure who brought him near the fence, a gray Genoranger. The Genoranger took him inside the fence and put him on the nearest road.

“Call an ambulance,” said the Genoranger, “You sit out for this one, alright?”

“This person... knows that I'm also a Genoranger,” Sid thought.
“Calm down, we are here to help you guys,” the gray Genoranger just left after saying that.
Meanwhile the six other Genorangers defeated Ceratogaulus and that Androsaur and all the defeated Androfutters turned into giants. Unfortunately, there are two other Androsaurs they didn't fight that also turned into giants.
“Fuck, what were those!?” Alvin shouted from inside the Triceratops, “Oi, four eyes, ya got a plan!?”
“Eric, combine with Dan!” ordered Petra who controlled the Pteranodon, “We must split up and form Saurierkaiser after we take care all of those Androfutter!”

“Where is Uncle Sid!?” Grace asked, tearing off some Androfutter with Velociraptor.

“I hope he's safe!” Dan replied, “Eric!”

“OK!” Eric replied, “Rüstung - Parasaurolophus!”

Saurierjaeger Schneider appeared and immediately twirled his sword and ax hand, like dancing with red blood that gushed every time the two weapons hit the enemy. Only three Androsaurs remain, Ceratogaulus could be defeated by Saurierjaeger Schneider, but Pliohippus and Synthetoceras were insanely strong. The ordinary Saurierkaiser and Saurierkaiser Schneider could not defeat them.

“If uncle Sid were here, maybe things would have been a little different,” Eric thought.

Saurierkaiser Schneider was hit by a Pliohippus kick and knocked away. Just as Saurierkaiser was about to stand up, there was an incoming transmission.

“Do you need help?” said the man, the gray Genoranger.

“New Genoranger!?”

“It's not just one person,” he said.

Synthetoceras was hit by an attack. Saurierkaiser Schneider spun and its optics captured images of two new Stahlsaurers, Ankylosaurus and Pachycephalosaurus.

“Excuse me,” said the gray Genoranger, “Do you need help?”

“Two Genorangers!?” Petra said.

“Who the hell are you!?” Alvin demanded.

“We are friends,” replied the gray Genoranger, “we have brought Stegoorange to a safe place, you can ask him later. Now, we should take care of these two Androsaurs.”

Eric hesitated, remembering Sir Owen's words about a bad person who could gain power. But he threw away that doubt.

“Brother Dan, Sis Winnie, uncombine Parasaur and Plesiosaur!” said Eric.

Dan and Winnie uncombined Parasaurolophus and Plesiosaurus from Saurierkaiser, Eric then pressed Rüstung - Ankylosaurus and Rüstung - Pachycephalosaurus, both of which became left and right hands.

“Lang lebe, Saurierkaiser Dreschen Schläger!”

“No need to announce that, kiddo!”

Both of those Genoranger’s cockpits moved into Saurierkaiser. Eric, Alvin, and Petra saw a gray male Genoranger and a cyan Genoranger who was a woman.

“Hello, call me Judd. Please take care of me from now on, all right,” said the gray Genoranger.

The cyan Genoranger said nothing, she moved the giant robot's left hand, the flail from the Ankylosaurus’ tail bound Pliohippus. The woman pulled it closer.

“Introduction can wait. Take care of those Androsaurs,” said the woman.

“That's right,” Petra said, “Grace, Winnie, Dan! You take care of the other Androsaur!”

Saurierkaiser Dreschen Schläger advanced, approaching the pinned Pliohippus and with the head of Stahlsaurer Pachycephalosaurus as the right hand punched Pliohippus' head repeatedly until it was crushed.

Plesiosaurus managed to shoot Synthetoceras’ foot, it went off-balance. The cyan Genoranger swung Saurierkaiser's left hand, the flail floated in the air and struck the chin of Androsaur. Parasaurolophus used its crown and cut Synthetoceras’ neck. The Androsaur crashed to the ground, lying helpless when Saurierkaiser finished it.

After those three Andorsaurs were defeated, they went to the hospital where Sid was treated. The two new Genorangers introduced themselves. The gray Genoranger, PachyGrau, introduced himself as Judeau Zeele.

“Call me Judd,” he said.

They all glanced at the cyan Genoranger, AnkyloCyan. The woman glared at them.

“Just call me Jen,” she said, then just left.

“So cold,” Grace commented.

“Her name is Jenny Magnotta,” Judd said, “Don't mind her coldness, she's actually kind.”

Judd left them. Winnie then contacted Sir Owen to deliver this good news, but Alvin held back.

“Hey, four eyes,” Alvin called, “The Androsaur who was missing yesterday ... wasn't the mole, right?”

“I don't think so, because there was no trace at all yesterday,” Petra answered.

“Well, at least we get two strong friends,” Winnie said.

Outside the hospital, Judd got a call. Looking around, he then answered the call, “Hello?”

“Good job, Judd,” replied a man, “Dig everything you can from the Genoranger and the giant robot.”

“Alright, boss. Then what about our work yesterday?”

Elsewhere, the man who was disturbed by Saurierkaiser's presence was on a phone call.

“Why don’t you two come tomorrow? You have captured a great Androsaur,” he said, “I have sent your advanced payment to your accounts. For the rest, you two do your job well, okay?”

He hung up, then turned back to see Doedicurus Androsaur who was shackled behind bars, struggling to try to free itself.
