Chapter 1: Wunsch
“You want something different to happen, something that makes you powerful, don’t you agree?"
Natales City was a town with a population of fourteen thousand and forty five people. For its size, Natales was an advanced city, with every facility such as school, metro, hospital, university, library, city park and many others. In the center of the town was the office of Genesis Corporation in the shape of an Aztec pyramid. Although the city was advanced, it was oppressive. No one could ever leave Natales unless they were using the subway to access an airport few cities away. Such was the condition where Eric Rashille lived, along with many other citizens of Natales.

Eric lived for all of his ordinary life inside Natales.. Even in his class, he was never interested in learning. He was instead looking for news on supervised internet, and he clicked on the link, leading him to a news page.

Again! “Genoranger Squad” caught on camera!

Yesterday, a footage of a group called themselves “Genoranger” was caught on an amateur camera. The footage showed three individuals in black, yellow, and pink fighting against what seemed to be a monster…

“If only I was them,” Eric thought.

He then continued on reading the news.

“Honestly, they are nothing but youngsters causing troubles,” said Mr. D, who requested us to censor his name. “Government should do something about them before it escalates into a real problem.”

Eric disagreed. He knew damn well that Genoranger, unlike what many thought, was the true hero that protected Natales. Maybe Genoranger destroyed a thing or two when they battle the monsters, but surely the safety of many outweigh a broken vehicle. Not like the government care anyway, they too knew that mere soldiers with bullets couldn’t do much against a monster.

The bell rang and the lesson started, most of the students opened their textbook. But not with Alvin Aden, a student from class 3, a senior of Eric in that school.

“Evolution is a process of change in living beings that happened slowly for millions of years,” the teacher explained.

But Alvin was busy with his phone in the back-row seat. He chatted using an application named “Lain”, in a private group consisting of six people, but only two were online except himself at the moment.

Alvin A
That bastard from last night got away
He’s 2 strong 13:34

Just across the school building, in Vana Academy, Winnie Guan, a twenty-one years old college student from Creative Design major noticed her phone vibrating. She looked at the chat and with stress expressed at her beautiful face, replied Alvin.

Winnie G
Then what should we do? We have thrown everything we got at it! 13:35

Alvin got uncomfortable as Winnie went on and on with her comments.

Alvin A
Stop ya fuckin whinin
I fuckin get it, ok?
We got more than we can handle atm 13:41

The school was over, and a girl from class 1, Grace Timmens, took her phone from her locker and swiftly read and replied to the group chat.

Grace T
We need new member, whether we like it or not :pensive: 14:15

Alvin read Grace’s message and in emotions rose inside him, he looked angry and sad.

Alvin A
R u crazy!?
U want to repeat what happened b4!? 14:17

Grace sighed, she then replied.

Grace T
Then what are we gonna do?
The fight last night had proved the need of a new member :( 14:19

Alvin spat, he stood to his opinion and replied.

Alvin A
We’ll not add new members, ever. 14:20

Eric, meanwhile, walked out of his school when he was pushed from behind so hard he fell on the asphalt. He knew who did this, a gang of rebel students. One of them picked Eric up and held him by the collar, asking for his money. Eric didn’t know what to do, he shivered and answered he got none. They refused to believe him and once again slammed him to the ground and ganged on him.

“If only… I got power…” Eric thought to himself as he got bodied left and right with punches and kicks.

Unbeknown to them, a young man in weird red clothes was watching from afar. As Eric was about to lose his consciousness, Alvin passed the gate and when he saw them, he approached them.

“Enough!” he shouted.

The gangs’ attentions shifted to Alvin and they approached him in annoyance, for Alvin had disturbed their fun.

“Let him go,” Alvin said.

“Non’ of your business!”

“You wanna pick a fight?”

“Get him, boys!” said the leader.

“Oh well,” Alvin then took a DNA Key and pressed it.

“TRICERASCHWARZ,” announced the key.

Alvin then inserted the key to his phone, and in a heartbeat he changed into the black Genoranger, Tricerashwarz!

The gangs laughed at what they saw, “Do you want to cosplay or play dress?”

But Eric, even when he was battered and bruised, could not help but be surprised. There was a member of Genoranger in his school. His desire was to come at him and to ask where he could attain such power, but at this condition he was unable to do so.

“Come,” Alvin said, he pressed three numbers on his phone.

“TRIDWEN,” announced the phone as a shield appeared in Alvin’s hand.

“You piece of shit! Beat ‘im up!!”

The gangs pulled out pipes and knives and attempted an attack from Alvin. Alvin shrugged it off easily, with his shield he bashed them one by one until only he and the gang’s leader left standing. The gang’s leader cowered as he saw Alvin’s strength, and he froze as Alvin grabbed him by his collar.

“Don’t do this anymore, or I’ll fuckin kill ya,” Alvin threatened, his tone, although flat, was fueled by anger.

The gang’s leader could see his own fear reflected on Triceraschwarz’s visor. Alvin dropped him, and all of them ran away God knew where. Alvin sighed at such sight, he then approached helpless Eric. Eric clearly was shocked. Never did he think he would be this close to one of the Genoranger.

“Ya alright?”

Alvin didn’t know who he had saved that day, nor Eric knew who was the black Genoranger, even though he had seen his human form. Eric’s soul was in turmoil, there were so many things that he would like to say and to ask him. But before Eric was able to speak, the black Genoranger returned into his human form and turned around.

“Smell ya later,” he said.

Eric was stunned. He started to compare himself to Alvin in silence. There was happiness, sadness, disappointment, anger, swelling inside his body. He wanted power to fight back, to keep himself safe. To protect himself, and to protect others. Later he got up and tidied himself, he then passed the gate of the school.

“Eric Rashille.”

Eric turned to see who called him. There was a young man behind him, with unkempt red hair, wearing damaged jeans, black sneakers, denim jacket, and red shirt, who was leaning to the wall, crossing his arms and looking at Eric with interest.

“Are you calling me, senior?” Eric asked the young man.

“Senior? How quaint,” the young man commented, he then let his mouth curved to Mephistophelian grin. “I do, actually.”

“How do you know my full name?” Eric asked once again curiously.

“It doesn’t matter,” the young man said as he looked around, “It’s not safe here, suppose we move to somewhere else?”

Eric had no time to answer, for the young man grabbed him tightly by his hand and dragged him to the bushes. Eric was about to yell for help, but the young man covered his mouth until they arrived there, hidden behind the shades of vegetation. Eric caught his breath as the young man let go of his grips.

“Poor you,” he commented to Eric.

Eric was fully alert, he then asked with fear and suspicion, “Senior, who are you and what do you want?”

“You want to have the power to protect yourself and others, am I right?”

Eric was surprised, how did he know what he wanted?

“Living as a high school student in a boring, monotonous life, bullied for his inability to fight back. You want something different to happen, something that makes you powerful, don’t you agree?”

Eric nodded lightly. The young man leant to him and spoke in whisper, “I have an interesting offer for you. Trust me, with this, you will no longer have that pesky boredom, and you will have the power you wanted.”

Eric wondered whether it was a good or bad thing, but he didn’t have time to choose because the young man shoved something into his hands. The young man gave him two things. One was a weird smartphone, the other was something like a Tyrannosaurus head with a Roman Numeric on its edge, similar to what the black Genoranger used to transform himself into Triceraschwarz. Eric could not believe he got it within his grasp.

“Aren’t these… Tools that Genoranger used to transform, right?” Eric asked, “But how?”

“Correct,” the young man said, “You were being helped by one of them, right? The black one?”

“Yes, but what are these?”

The young man took the Tyrannosaurus head-like thing and said, “This is DNA Key. If you press this button," he later pressed the Roman Numeric on its edge, and then a blade appeared from its tip. "You can stab it to the bottom of this Genophone, and you will change into Genoranger!”

“Do you know the name of the black Genoranger?” Eric pressed.

“Yes, that would be Alvin Arden. He had been black Genoranger, Triceraschwarz, for four years.”

“So, he was senior Alvin?” Eric muttered to himself.

The young man looked at his golden wristwatch and then said, “Sorry, I have to go for now. By the way, you are not alone as a Genoranger. There would be a lot of people that can help you to fight Androsaurs. Good luck, I have a high hope for you, Tyrannorot.”

“Wait!” Eric shouted, but the young man did not stop.

Eric chased him only to find him had disappeared. Eric could not believe it, the power of Genoranger was in his hands, the power to realize his dream. He then rushed to his home, feeling happy and confused. When he reached home, he found that her mother got a company from the noises.

“Kids these days, they want to do anything that gives them the feeling of power and joy, but they don’t even think of the consequences,” said his mother as Eric snuck quietly, for he knew his mom would interrogate him for coming home late.

He was quite shocked when he heard that, reaching for his DNA Key and the Genophone. His mother’s words echoed inside his head.

“Is what I wanted that bad?” he thought for himself.

He stood still for a while, before continuing his walk to his room from backstairs.

“Eric? Have you come home?” his mother asked when she heard footsteps.

Eric did not answer. He sat in his room, looking at the DNA key and the Genophone.

“Have I made the right choice, taking these things?” he soliloquized, “What will I do?”

He thought long and hard, before he forced a smile and justified himself, “This is what I wanted since long, surely I did nothing wrong.”

That night dinner was quite awkward for him. He ate slowly, he still lost in his thoughts.

“Eric, next time, say something when you come home, alright?” his mother said.

“Yes mom,” Eric said flatly.

“You were late today. Where have you been?”

“Uhm, well,” Eric stammered, “I was working on a group project.”

His mother looked at his dodging expression, “You are telling the truth, no?”

“Yes, I am,” Eric said, trying his hardest to not stutter. “Sorry for not telling you, my smartphone was lowbat.”

His mom sighed, she then said. “Seriously, you should tell me if you are coming home late. I was worried, you know?”

“Yes mom,” Eric said, but inside his heart he thought. “Mom must not know that I have become a Genoranger.”

Eric then told his mom he would go to sleep right away, something that his mom found unusual.

“This early? What about your homeworks?” she asked tenderly.

“I’ve done the homework in school with my friends,” Eric answered, halfway to his room.
“Which is why I come back late, the homework is rather difficult even for the smartest guy in the class.”

“All right, then. Good night.”

Meanwhile on the town center, Alvin, Winnie, and Grace gathered.

“Are you sure we will defeat that Androsaurs? We couldn't even beat him last night!” Winnie said.

“We can do it,” Alvin said, pretending that he was sure of that. “This city depends on us succeeding.”

“Shouldn’t we think of it first? We need another hand,” Grace said calmly.

“Quit ya mumblin,” Alvin replied, “We won't know until we try it. Besides, I’m ready to die tonight.”

Grace and Winnie were shocked to hear that, then Winnie asked, “Are you sure about that?”
“I’d rather die, to keep living in this town would only be dangerous,” Alvin said, referring to what happened at school earlier and to mask his fear.

He feared that Androsaur from last night, but he feared more of what happened earlier. With Eric and that rebel gang’s members knowing his identity, It would only be a matter of time until the whole school, and the whole town, knew that he was a Genoranger, the troublemaker in town. Using his power in front of people was unwise, but he had done it to shrug off his fear.

“If that’s what you want, then,” Grace shrugged.

They hadn’t walked for a minute when the monster, Glyptodon Androsaurs, waited in front of them. It was armoured with hammer as a weapon, high in defense and attack but lacking in speed. The three of them took their DNA key.

“C’mon,” Alvin said.

“TRICERASCHWARZ.”

“You got me,” Grace replied.

“VELOCIGELB.”

“Understood,” Winnie replied.

“PLESIOROSA”

And in a flash, Alvin, Grace, and Winnie had transformed into Triceraschwarz, Velocigelb, and Plesiorosa respectively. Eric’s Genophone suddenly let out a series of bleeps. Eric looked at it, he saw the map of Natales and a red dot in the town center.

Glyptodon dashed, Alvin used his escutcheon Tridwen to fend off its attack. Winnie shot it with her musket, Pleskugeln, as it was in deadlock with Alvin. Grace quickly moved behind Glyptodon’s back and slashed it with her daggers, Velocarnwen, but it availed naught.

“Don’t give up!” Alvin commanded, his defense waned. “Don’t mind me if I die, keep going and we will win!”

Glyptodon then used his mace to knock Alvin aside, and with ease attacked Grace and Winnie. Grace got hit in her back, Winnie got struck in her leg, but Alvin got it the worst, his whole body was injured.

“Not yet! Your injuries are better than mine!” Alvin shouted, “Don’t forget, I’m ready to die as long as we win this!”

“We are at our limit!” Winnie replied.

“Get up,” Alvin supported, “This is nothing.”

Hearing that, Winnie and Grace stood up to attack Glyptodon again, Alvin with wavering defense stood up and took his stance.

“Come!”

Glyptodon was provoked to Alvin’s word, it came to attack him. Alvin again went on defense, and Grace and Winnie kept attacking.

As it went on, Eric, after successfully snuck out his house, followed the bleep on his Genophone to the town center. He then saw Alvin and two other Genorangers attack a monster, they were at heavy disadvantages. Eric then remembered his DNA key, and then he followed what Alvin did. He pressed his DNA key.

“TYRANNOROT,” announced the key.

“Genochange!” Eric improvised as he plugged the key to his Genophone.

There was a flash and Eric was now in the red outfit of Genoranger, as Tyrannorot.

“Wow, I really changed!” he said in amazement, “Wow, I feel a lot better than usual!”

His Genophone vibrated, and he immediately pressed the icon which appeared in the screen.

“REXCALIBUR!," the Genophone voiced loud when a sword-like-thing appeared in front of him.

“Now’s my chance,” Eric muttered to himself and grabbed his sword.

Glyptodon was about to attack Alvin when there was a streak of red and a flash, Glyptodo’s back was cut into pieces. Alvin, Winnie, and Grace were surprised when a red Genoranger appeared out of nowhere and more importantly, easily cut Glyptodon’s hard armor.

“Who is this guy!?” Winnie asked.

“Looks like he is the right dude to help us,” Grace commented.

“Never mind that, press the attack!” Alvin commanded.

But before they had the chance to do anything, the fight was already over. Eric had managed to cut off limbs and head of Glyptodon. Alvin quickly commanded the red one to back away.

“Watch out! He still got his second form!”

Eric was shocked to hear that, and even more shocked when Glyptodon’s corpse glowed and engorged until it became gigantic. Eric fell and backed away.

“I never knew they could do that!” he stammered.

Alvin, Grace, and Winnie then took out their Genophones and called upon their mecha Stahlsaurer. Alvin with Stahlsaurer Triceratops, Grace with Stahlsaurer Velociraptor, and Winnie with Stahlsaurer Plesiosaurus.

“This fucking thing keep happening again!” Alvin swore from inside Triceratops, which he commanded to ram gigantic Glyptodon.

His attack was followed with Velociraptor’s claws and Plesiosaur’s plasma shot, but none affected it.

“THAT... IS... AWESOME!” Eric screamed in amazement, “Can I do it too?”

“HEY, NEWBIE!” shouted Alvin in panic, “GET YOUR FUCKIN STAHLSAURER HERE!”

“A what?” Eric puzzled, then his Genophone vibrated.

Eric took his Genophone and in its screen was written “Stahlsaurer Tyrannosaurus.” Eric was still puzzled, but he then pressed it. From his DNA key emerged a mechanical dinosaur clad in red, the king of Stahlsaurer, Stahlsaurer Tyrannosaurus.

“That’s!” Winnie gasped.

“That’s a!” Alvin stunned

“Tyrannosaurus Stahlsaurer?", Grace wondered.

“YES, I DO HAVE ONE!” Eric leapt in joy.

Stahlsaurer Tyrannosaurus roared, its voice boomed to nine winds into midnight. Eric’s mind was still blown at such sight when his Genophone once again vibrating. This time, the Genophone displayed “Futter.”

“Geez, what’s wrong with this Genophone? I don’t understand German!” he said, unaware that Tyrannosaurus was hit by Glyptodon.

“GET IN THE FUCKING ROBOT, NEWBIE!” Alvin shouted impatiently.

“Stahl what!? How!?”

“JUST PRESS WHATEVER DISPLAYED IN YOUR GENOPHONE!” Alvin shouted.

Eric pressed the screen, and he instantly teleported inside Tyrannosaurus. It was unlike the mecha cockpit Eric saw on internet. Rather, it was like a lump of meat with cables and mechanical stuff with flickering background, proving that Stahlsaurer was a cyborg of some sort. In front of him was a control pod. He was inside the heart of Stahlsaurer Tyrannosaurus.

“Where am I?” Eric asked when suddenly a hologram appeared in front of him, surprising Eric.

“You are inside your Stahlsaurer!” Winnie’s voice was echoing loudly in the chamber, “With you controlling it directly, you can fight the giant monster better!”

“Alright, let see!” Eric said as he took direct control.

Stahlsaurer Tyrannosaurus once again roared, it grew stronger and stronger. Tyrannosaurus sprint, surging with power, and with a powerful bite crushed Glyptodon’s shell. Glyptodon tried to retreat as its defense was breached, but it was surrounded by four Stahlsaurers. The battle ended with Tyrannosaurus roared again, standing proud with yet another roar.

All of the Genorangers present detransform, and all of their Stahlsaurer turned back into the DNA key. Alvin, Grace, and Winnie approached the man, who was facing away from them.

“I can’t believe I got this power!” Eric said.

“Thank you for your help,” Grace said coldly, but satisfied.

“We are hoping for your help again next…”

But Alvin stopped Winnie as he saw Eric. He was pissed, confused, and surprised, all of it mixed in his face.

“Aren’t you…,” Alvin tried to ask, but he couldn’t say it, mainly to the fact that the kid he saved today was a Genoranger.

“Senior Alvin?” Eric asked.

Alvin did not reply, he was even more shocked when the kid said his name. Both of them then stared at each other in confusion under the moonless midnight.
